I am 19 now and the uncle only spoke to me twice in 6 years and once was to rat me out for not staying with my Mom and being supportive of her and this lover.

My uncle is ultra protective of his clan (siblings and parents) so I was seen as a traitor not to be backing my Mom's love life.

I still talk to my Mom but opted to live with my Dad (I was 13 at the time). I will not have much to do with her lover other then cordial if she is with him and i never spend alone time with them.

Of course, I'm not telling him to get things on the top shelf by himself or to go to the park by himself, but just little things like if he wants me to help him in the bathroom or help him get dressed or get him a spoon for his cereal.
